South Beach Casino & Resort, Scanterbury

I pushed open the door and the room poured light across the carpet like someone had left the prairie sun on for me. Space first — real space — then the view stretching out past the glass, quiet fields and a sky that felt wider than the window could hold. The bed was dressed simply and felt inviting the moment I sat; that soft give after a long drive was the first thing I noticed and the one I kept smiling about.

One small surprise beat my expectations in the best way: how quickly the room settled into calm. I had braced for a louder resort pulse, yet the corridor hush and the way the curtains fell made the space feel like a private pocket. It was a tiny detail, and it changed the whole afternoon.

I recently stayed at your property and wanted to share my experience. Overall, I had a very enjoyable visit. Your staff were welcoming, friendly, and professional, and they made me feel valued throughout my stay. The facility was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, which made for a relaxing experience. I especially appreciated the excellent customer service and the pleasant atmosphere. It is clear that your team works hard to make guests feel welcome, and I am grateful for their efforts. I would like to offer one suggestion for improvement. The bathtub in my room was extremely slippery and could pose a safety risk, particularly for older guests or anyone with mobility concerns. Replacing the tub with a walk-in shower, or installing a non-slip surface and sturdy grab bars, would greatly improve guest safety. Thank you for providing such a pleasant experience. I look forward to visiting your property again and will gladly recommend your property to family and friends. Sincerely, Inder

I stayed here over Christmas for their stay and play promotion. It was the absolute best stay and this will definitely be a yearly thing now. It was amazing, the pool the food the rooms the staff absolutely everything was so amazing. Did I mention the food, well oh my goodness!!! It is so good and huge, think about sharing or plan on eating the leftovers, cause you don't want to waste. I can't wait for Christmas this year just to go again.

My wife and I always love going to South Beach we find everything great. The rooms and hotel are always clean, and the people are always friendly and very accommodating. My wife and I went to Vegas last year and we were talking we would have been happier at South Beach. And hats off to Julian we decided to stay another night and he went out of his way so we wouldn’t have to change rooms. The food is good and the pool and hot tub were definitely refreshing. Hats off to all the employees

We decided to celebrate our 42nd Anniversary with an overnight stay at South Beach Resort. The staff were friendly and the hotel was immaculate. We had a great dinner and played some slots. The Play and Stay deal included food vouchers and slot vouchers. The room rate was affordable. A great deal overall.

The staff here are lovely. I stayed for four days with my husband and 3 yr old and it was very comfortable. The room was a king suite and it was definitely worth the extra for all the space and the kitchen. The room was a bit dated, but it was spotless! Location is out in the middle of nothing, but Selkirk is 30 min away and it has everything you may need. The mango is the main restaurant I could visit with my son, it was okay food- 5/10(again the staff were so nice). The arcade is very small. The pool area is stunning but the water is very cold, I liked how there was a bathroom right in the pool area and an elevator from there to the rooms. I really appreciated the water and coffee bar that was complimentary to guests, let me fill up our water bottles every morning and start our day off with tea and coffee 10/10. I would definitely recommend this hotel to people, especially adults. Oh and the membership is worth getting 100%, even for the room discount.

When the lights come up

Evening rewrote the property. The pool glowed, voices drifted, and the casino floor woke with that holiday spark I chase on every trip — bright, social, a little electric. Walking between the public rooms after dark felt like the resort had put on a different jacket: still friendly, just livelier around the edges.

By day the lobby and corridors read clean and welcoming; by night guests lingered longer, trading stories near the seating pockets and drifting toward the glow of the gaming floor. Those public spaces are where the place shows its personality — polished enough for a special night, easy enough that you never feel overdressed for a casual stroll.

Morning light

Breakfast, for me, was about the pause. Coffee that woke me gently, a plate that felt generous without ceremony, and a dining room already humming with families planning the day. I left full and unhurried — the kind of morning that makes you slow your checkout thoughts.

Would I come back? Absolutely — for a long weekend when I want pool steam, a little play, and that prairie sunset framing the whole stay. South Beach left me buzzing in the best way.

Breakfast

Morning service felt generous and unfussy. Guests around me lingered over big plates, and the room carried that holiday hum without rushing anyone out. My own plate left me satisfied; the coffee did the quiet work of starting the day well.

Nothing about breakfast needed theatre. It simply worked — friendly faces, a steady pace, and enough choice that I never felt stuck.

What I’d order again

The generous plate I shared in spirit with every guest who said “bring an appetite.”

The quiet test

After lights-out

Once the door clicked, the room held a soft dark. Corridor noise stayed distant; the resort’s evening energy stayed on the other side of the walls. I slept deeply, woke clear, and never reached for earplugs. For a property that comes alive after dusk, that balance mattered.

Measured against its class

A 3-star listing with a 4.2/5 from 2463 guests signals solid comfort and service rather than ceremony — and that is what the stay delivered.

Before you go

Plan for busy weekends

Holiday periods and special promotions draw crowds. If a calm lobby matters to you, consider midweek timing or arrive with a flexible evening plan.

Confirm what matters when you book

Room layout, accessibility needs, and dining preferences vary. Spell out the details that shape your stay when you send a reservation request.

Accessibility-minded travel

If mobility support is essential, ask specifically about the room and bathroom configuration before you commit — guest notes mention tubs and space differently by room.

Pack for prairie distance

The setting is open country. Bring what you need for comfort between town runs, and treat Selkirk as a convenient supply stop if you require extras.
